Power kite
is a kite which is large enough to provide significant pull to the rider across the water surface of a large water body. Power kites are used for kite surfing and many other sports like kite buggying, kite land boarding, kite skating, snow kiting, kite jumping, man lifting and kite boating. power kite surfing is an extra ordinary sport filled with fun and excitement. Power kites come in three types namely foils, leading edge inflatable, supported leading edge, rigid framed kites and soft single skin kites.
Foil kites are of two types open cell and closed cell. Opened cell allows air to flow in and out which can be used as a safety feature to depower the kite. Closed cell are made to float in water during re-launch.

Kite surfing can be done in any location with consistent and large water body like beaches but can also be practised on lakes and inlets. It is occasionally done on rivers. Wind strength has a great impact on kite surfing. Based on wind strength, the size of kite board is decided. Cross shore and cross on shore are good for power kite surfing.
Research is under progress to extract the ways of generating electric power using power kites. Power Kites have two to five lines and a bar or handles and also feature different control systems. Power kites range from 1.5 to 50 m square in size. Increase in size of kite is recommended for those performing freestyle and experienced riders.
There are innumerable ways to harness the wind using power kites. Power kites are designed especially for specific purpose. Power kites are portable and are very strong, thus making the kite surfing sport exciting. A large kite gives a large lift off while jumping.
